Cost of care

How home care in Lagos is priced.

What decides the monthly cost of care for an elderly parent, what every plan includes, and how to get a written quote.

What decides the cost

Hours of care each day

A short daily visit costs less than several hours of care, and day-and-night cover costs the most. Most families start with what is needed now and change the plan as needs change.

Visits or live-in

With daily visits a caregiver comes at agreed times. With live-in care a caregiver stays in the home, and a named relief caregiver covers rest days.

How much help is needed

Company and help around the house is lighter work than washing, dressing, moving someone safely or caring for someone who is bedridden. Care after a stroke, surgery or hospital stay needs closer monitoring.

Nurse time

Every plan has a nurse reviewing every report. Plans after a hospital stay and live-in plans also include regular nurse visits or reviews.

Where your parent lives

We cover Lagos Island and the Mainland. Travel time to some areas can affect visit times, which the nurse will explain at the assessment.

The four levels of care

Most families choose one of these, and the nurse adjusts it to your parent:

  • Companion Care: Daily visits for company, meals, light help at home and wellbeing checks.
  • Personal Care: Hands-on help with bathing, dressing, mobility and medication prompts.
  • Post-Hospital Care: Recovery at home after surgery, stroke or a hospital stay, with closer monitoring.
  • Live-in Care: A caregiver living in the home, with relief cover on rest days and nurse oversight.

How you get a quote

  1. Tell us about your parent on the enquiry form. It takes a few minutes, from anywhere.
  2. A registered nurse visits your parent at home, meets the family and reads the medical notes.
  3. Within 48 hours you receive a written care plan and a monthly quote.
  4. If you go ahead, you pay by card or bank transfer and care starts on the agreed date. Invoices appear on the family portal.

Comparing quotes

When you compare agencies or a private caregiver, ask what the price includes:

  • Who supervises the caregiver, and are they a registered nurse?
  • Do you get a written report after every visit, or only a phone call?
  • What happens if the caregiver is sick, late or leaves?
  • Have the caregiver's ID, guarantor, references and police certificate been checked?
  • Who do you call at night if something goes wrong?

Our guide to finding a trusted caregiver in Lagos covers these questions in more detail, and care home or care at home compares the two options.

Questions families ask

Cost of home care: common questions

How much does home care cost in Lagos?

It depends on the hours of care, whether a caregiver lives in, and how much hands-on help is needed. We give every family a written monthly quote within 48 hours of a nurse assessment, so the full cost is clear before care starts.

Why don't you publish prices?

Two families asking for 'a caregiver' often need very different care. A nurse assessment means the quote matches what your parent actually needs, instead of a starting price that changes later.

What is included in every plan?

A named registered nurse responsible for the case, a report after every visit that the nurse checks and signs, urgent alerts to the family, and relief cover if a caregiver is sick or late.

Is live-in care more expensive than daily visits?

Usually yes, because a caregiver is in the home day and night and a relief caregiver covers rest days. For someone who should not be alone at night it is often the safer and simpler choice.

Can I pay from abroad?

Yes. Families in the UK, the US, Canada and elsewhere arrange and pay for care online, by card or bank transfer, and receive invoices and reports on the family portal.

Can the plan change later?

Yes. Needs change, especially after an illness or a fall. The nurse reviews the plan and we send a new written quote before anything changes.
